Why Panda

A few titles I came and went though before settling on the current name:
  • Side Tracked - Hey not only does it sound like a comic but it also explains the thinking processes that were part of the comics conception.
  • Terrance of Columbia - I'm serious. It had that oh-"Lawrence of Arabia"- type aurora around it. However it sounded too sophisticated. I thought I should save that name until I open a franchise of coffee shops across the continent. The shops will not only feature coffee, but high quality sweatshirts as well. Think about it.

    Panda's Box. Well, I have a stuffed panda which also doubles as a puppet. I thought it would be really cool, if one day I should become famous (like whoever drew Garfield. What was his name again?), and have pictures taken of the stuffed panda puppet holding a pencil over a half-drawn cartoon. The implication being that the panda actually drew the cartoon. Cute. Also, for those of you who spotted it, there is an allusion to PANDORA's Box, a thing in greek mythology. The basic premise of that myth is that at the beginning of human existence, earth was basically a utopia. Everything that was evil and bad was contained in a box. A female named Pandora got too curious one day, opened the box and accidently cause the pain and suffering that we see today.

    I'd also like to add: to all young up-and-coming cartoonists, drawing comics is NOT a way to impress and pick up chicks. In my experience, no one cares about a stupid comic that gets printed in the local student papaer (well except for underage high-school girls). It took me about a year to figure this one out.
