Published Comics 1997 - 1998

Panda's Boxes

Leak - March 97
This was my first comic.  It came out shortly after the release of The Empire Strikes Back :Special Edition.  Notice it has no title or anything.

Luke's Single Life - March 97
I must confess, I sorta got the idea from a top ten list of some sort over the internet.  I basically combined the two best ones I saw out there.  This one uses the short-lived name "Side-Tracked".  Would've kept it, but I felt it was too unoriginal.

When people think They're too Important - Sept 97
First comic printed in Second year of studies.  First time I called it Panda's Box too!

Overdoing it-  Sept 97
I got this idea from my psychology textbook after reading a section on animal behaviour and dominance rituals.

My residence Don - Sept 97
On the first day of residence, after I got everything unpacked and placed perfectly, my (then) residence Don, (whose real name is Iris) told me about the NO-Microwave rule.  She was quoting a section of the rule book that pertained to cooking appliances.  After attempting to challenge the ruling, I decided it was easier to lie about removing it and stash my microwave under my bed so that she wouldn't see it.  After that I also always kept the door to my room closed.

Psychology 281 -  Oct 97
This comic is basically my first impression of the course that I took last year.  Jokes on me though.  Despite the fact I went to every other class in first term, skipping all but the first lab, and still getting 76 and 69 respectively on my first two exams, I ended up with a 58 overall.

Typical Social Science Student - Oct 97
In our SECOND (yep second not first) class of this course, the instructor went and taught us how to use the mean function on our calculators.  People were actually writing down notes on this.  It was sad.

Musical Disagreement  - Nov 97
This comic is based on a conversation I had with a music critic and fellow gazette staffer, Emily Chung.  The chracter in the comic speaking her lines, however, was based on someone else.

Fourth-Most Important person - Jan 98
During a telephone conversation with the girl whom the female character is based on, I was put on hold so she could feed her tamagochi.

Rain - Jan 98
Purely fictional event.  Well, I did get kicked out of this person's room because she "had to study" but it wasn't raining at the time.

Valentine Weekend - Feb 13, 98
Again, this one's even more fictional.  Made it up myself.  In fact, I've never been "frenched" at all (when I drew this).

High-Heeled shoes - April 98
Ever wonder what those really ugly platform shoes are for?  This is my opinion. The story's fake but the puddle is real!

Cow-Tipping - June 5, 98
This was inspired by (1) Gary Larson's The far side and (2) a long London-to-Toronto bus ride that went through alot of farm country went it took a detour through Hamilton.
